ABOUT OUR WEB SITE

Hello! This is Grazia with some information on how the site of my company, Florence Statuary, was made. The idea was that it should be something just like the statuary we sell. Something handycrafted, carefully made by someone who cares. So, I decided to make it myself.

All right, let me explain. I am not what you'd call a "computer person". Not at all, two years ago I couldn't even use a mouse. Now I am starting to be a bit more proficient but, well, I do need help.

So, who did put together the site was mainly my son, Francesco. He is not a professional, either, and we both needed a lot of help from my husband, Ugo - he is more what I said you could call a "computer person" (even too much....). But I thought out the site layout, took all the pictures, wrote the text, and the handwriting you see on our logos is mine.

In a time of slick professional sites, the idea of making one's own site may seem hopelessly outdated. Yes, people seem to think that if their site doesn't make a million dollars in three months, then it is a a disaster. So it has to have all the bells and whistles, and it must be slick, witty, nice, clever, efficient and whatever else is needed. But the idea of Florence Statuary is different, we sell individual pieces, often made to order. So, our site should be something individual, too, and reflect our ideas and thoughts. That doesn't mean that one of these days we won't have the site"smoothed" by a professional. It is just that we want to maintain control on it.

So, I hope you like this site as it is. If you have suggestions or comments, I'll enjoy reading them. Just write me!
